We have an exciting opportunity for 4 trainees to teach your craft in Primary Schools across Rochdale.
Crafting Heritage is a mentoring and training opportunity for people with experience of forced migration.
This is what you will learn:
- Develop your workshop-leading skills
- Develop your heritage craft skills
- Get experience working in a school
- Get supported by an artist and mentor
- Help develop a school learning resource
- Contribute to a film and exhibition about the project
Support Offered:
- Travel Costs will be provided
- A bursary valuing £1,600 is available for a maximum of 4 individuals
In order to apply, you will need the following:
- Intermediate level of English
- Live in Rochdale
- Experienced Forced Migration*
- A passion for your heritage and crafts
- Be available to take part in training 1 day a week for 7 weeks from October to November
- Be available to deliver your workshops in 4 schools in Rochdale – Jan/Feb 2025
- Be available for a celebration event in Refugee Week June 2025

*To receive a bursary for this paid training scheme, you must have experience of forced migration, and have the legal right to work in the UK. By ‘forced migration’ we mean – an individual who has been through the refugee and or asylum-seeking process, or, relocated to the UK due to conflict or persecution.
