Venessa Scott is a prolific public artist whose bright and bold works can be found across the North - including eye-catching commissions at HOME, MediaCity and Rochdale Canal. She is also knownf or her appearances on the CBeebies series Colours where she can be seen helping young children discover and explore colour thought art.
She joined us at our 2022 Darnhill Festival to run a creative consultation workshop with local residents to document the things that are important to the local community.
The resulting works are currently being exhibited at No.1 Riverside in Rochdale. In the autumn, Venessa return to Darnhill to work with young people from Rochdale Youth Service to develop and install a brand new public art installation at The YARD in Darnhill.
Venessa will also be working with the Rochdale Connections Trust youth group in Darnhill to create some public art on the shutters of #Thrive, a local organisation whcih supports children and young people in the area who are experiencing emotional health and wellbeing issues.
This project is funded by Curious Minds, a charity which works to improve the lives of children and young people by increasing opportunities for their active participation in arts and culture, and by the Youth Justice Service as part of their Heywood Community Cohesion Project.
