With the help of funding from Action Together we were able to develop a reaching-out programme. The project 'Days Of Note' enabled us to collaborate with & connect with numerous community groups in Rochdale.
We delivered 10 outreach workshops themed around Celebration & Awareness days. Alongside each outreach session, we created make-along art videos inspired by the workshop which went out on our social media channels.
We ran a badgemaking activity at the Skylights Summer event, making over 250 badges with local families. We also collaborated with an LGBTQ+ South Asian adult group to make fabric bunting on the topic of identity for Mental Health Month in October 2022. We contracted Afrocats (who have lived experience) to deliver a Black History Month workshop with Darnhill Youth Service.
For Great Big Green Week we ran two digital arts & environmental workshops with Barnardos, who run a youth group for people with SEND. The group created plasticine models discussing environment & climate change, and then had a digital artist bring them to life by creating a digital model.
For World Kindness day we created a World Kindness activity pack for children, thirty copies of which were distributed at Heywood Library & a downloadable version made available online.
We worked with the Equalities team at Rochdale Borough Council to run a creative session for marginalised parents. The aim was to show parents how to support their children's reading & writing, and we also facilitated a bookmaking activity for the parents.
During the festive season, we worked with one of our volunteers to deliver an activity at our Winter Wonderland event and to support our environmental work we delivered a recycled Christmas crafts workshop with a Rochdale Connections Trust youth group. We also ran a festive card-making workshop as part of the Heywood Light Switch On.
The video content we created for Days of Note has collectively received 1,517 views on Instagram with participants recreating the activities at home.
