Nature in Danger! was a face-to-face arts based project which took place during October half term 2021 for a group of Year 7 pupils which Cartwheel Arts delivered in partnership with Skylight Circus Arts and Vicky Lomax.
The project saw a group of young people using multiple art forms to examine the climate emergency and solve it, with their heroic efforts captured on video.
Participatory art projects like this which are themed around the environment can be effective in engaging people with the climate emergency and an accessible but meaningful way.
Our sessions took place at Deeplish Community Centre, the first time the centre had been use since closing in March due to the pandemic.
All the participants were either new international arrivals, refugees or asylum seekers, or members of the Gypsy Roma Traveller community with EAL.
