Arts for Induction is a specialised creative resource that works to reduce anxiety by providing respite for newly arrived, refugee or asylum seeking children, who may be finding it difficult to integrate into school.
It is a fully researched and tested resource that was co-produced with children who have experience in starting school after migrating from their home countries. The resource is dedicated to ensuring these children build self-worth and confidence in themselves to ultimately ease their transition into the English school system.
It is a flexible and fun resource that is cost and time effective for schools to implement. Click here for all downloads.
The activities are provided with a fully comprehensive guide, instructions and a
materials list that utilises items the school may have already.
"Art for Induction is a wonderful resource specifically designed with the needs of international new arrivals and asylum seeker children in mind. We think that one of the reasons that it works so well is because it was co-designed with children and young people from these groups.
Starting a new school can be scary, starting a new school in a new country can be terrifying. Art for Induction provides a safe space in the school curriculum when a child arrives. It offers creativity, a chance to be in the here and now and a chance to build a sense of self-worth. We see this programme working time and time again with children and young people. We are very proud that Rochdale schools have this terrific programme on offer."
